toothless

The tease in the Stewart house has always been that kissing is what makes your teeth fall out. All that kissing must have gotten to Emery. Emery has had two loose bottom teeth for a while. I tried to get him to let me pull them a couple of times, but he was worried about the blood, and it hurting. So, he just waited. Last Saturday (10/22/11) at about lunchtime, I looked in his mouth and one tooth was gone (it had been there the night before) and the other was barely hanging on. Emery reached in and plucked it out.

The kids couldn't find any money in Emery's bed in the morning, but the tooth ewas gone (it had slipped down on the floor in its little baggie). While the kids were eating breakfast Mom found the stash of money in the bed. The tooth fairy left $5 for two teeth, even though the one was missing. Lucky kid!

K-I-S-S-I-N-G

Last night at dinner Emery was telling us that at recess they were playing super heroes. One girl said her power was to kiss all the boys to death. I didn't think we'd have to deal with this sort of thing so early....sigh. Clint and I were both telling Emery that under no circumstances was he to be kissing girls. Chani piped up, "Only boys?"

This morning I was chatting with my mom on the phone and I mentioned that we were having a make-up day for preschool since I was sick last week. Chani said (in a very excited way), "So we're going to make-up all the girls?!"

Saya's Blessing

Saya Brynn Reading was blessed by her dad, Clint, on September 25. I've been waiting to blog about it until we had the pictures (thanks Kristy!).

It was a crazy weekend. The Reading side of the family spent Saturday focused on the Nebraska/Wyoming football game. We also had the General Relief Society Broadcast to attend. Nearly everybody drove to Cheyenne on Saturday as well, so it was a whirlwind of a day. Sunday wasn't much better. After church we had a super fast meal of sweet pork salad and then nearly everyone was out the door by 3 PM to travel back home. Those in attendance for the blessing were (in no particular order): Grammy and Papa Stewart (who came early and worked hard to help us get our house in order), Grandma and Grandpa Reading, Aunt Shelly, Uncle Jim, Stewart, Landon, Lexi, and Kamri Stevenson, Nicole Lott, Lanae and Mike Workman, Uncle Jeff, Aunt Michelle, Josh, Ali, and Nate Reading, Uncle Jason, Aunt Desiree, Dillon, Truman, Elleree, and Beckett Reading and Aunt Kristy Reading. We also had lots of friends from our ward there. I just love our new ward! Clint did a great job on the blessing, it was beautiful.

I didn't take any pictures (I was too worried about getting everyone fed and on the road) and I'm so glad that Aunt Kristy was there to take a few. Without any notice and very little to work with in our yard, I think she got some good ones.

I wanted to do a post all about the blessing dress, but that may not happen, so I'd better do it here. I love how it turned out. I took a couple of patterns and mashed them together and I am really happy with the result. I love the pintucking, and adding at the bottom of the hem was my very own idea. I am going to get Clint to take a few pictures focusing on the dress, since Kristy was focused so perfectly on the model.

These two pictures came after Saya has been changed and fed. She was just starting to smile the weekend of the blessing, and a few people got some good grins from her.

Monday, Monday

Here's my random Monday list.

I ran for the first time in months (lots of months) this morning. I didn't go far (1/2 a mile), and my form stinks, but I did run.

I think I have mastitis, again.

I think I have mastitis again because Saya slept for 5.5 hours in a row last night and then only nursed on one side....for like 2 minutes.

The snow is gone. Today it's supposed to be 65 degrees.

The invisible fence is installed, and since Molly ran right through it, is turned up as high as it will go, poor dog.

It's Monday, that means laundry.

Emery is going to his first school birthday party tomorrow. It's for a girl. I need to get the cape finished started.

Saya smiles

Saya has been smiling for a couple of weeks now (she really started in earnest the week of the blessing) but I'm usually holding her when she does it so we don't get pictures. Today her dad was happy to hold her while she was grinning away. The sun was shining in the window behind them, so they are not the best pics, she's cute enough to make up for the bad pictures, though.

And one more for good measure!

first snow of the season!

It's snowing. Usually, the first snow is a skiff, but not this year. The snow started falling during breakfast and after 2 PM it's still coming down. It did make installing the invisible fence a bit hairy, but I think we've got it done. Because I was running back and forth from the hardware store and the rental place, and feeding the baby, I didn't get any cute pictures of the kids building a snowman, Molly stealing the carrot nose (twice) or the fat fluffy flakes falling from the sky. But we have a few inches now and here are a couple of pictures from our front porch.

11 years

Clint and I have been married 11 years today. It's been a great time, and I'm so grateful that he sticks with me crazy and all!

We took a few pictures of us (with Saya) for the blessing, but I haven't gotten those yet......so this is the most recent picture I have of the two of us. Please be kind, I had just given birth.

our newish car

For the first time in 11 years, we're a two car family. We decided that with carpooling and three kids and since we're always on the go, that we needed a second car. We started looking lightly, and then this sweet deal just fell into our lap (thanks Paris!). It's got some hail damage, but most things in our neighborhood do after the big storm. That's why we got such a great deal on it. It is a 2004 Hyundai Elantra with less than 50,00 miles, and it gets great gas mileage. It's squeezy to fit all three car seats in the back, but they do fit. Emery could move up to a high back booster (they are more narrow) but not this month. Eventually we'd like to have two sets of car seats so we don't have to do quite so much shuffling.
