stats

I've not been great at recording the kids stats.  I wanted to do this post today, and I cannot find Chani's weight and height from 6-11 months.  I'm a terrible mother!  Maybe someday I'll call up my old doctor/nurse and have them dig out her records.

Saya's stats
birth: 7 lbs.  11 oz.  21 inches long
2 months: 11 lbs. 8.5 oz.  24 inches long
4 months: 14 lbs. 8.5 oz.  25.5 inches long
6 months: 16 lbs. 12 oz.  26.75 inches long

By comparison, Emery and Chani's stats

Emery's stats
birth: 6 lbs. 12 oz.  19 inches long
2 months: 13 lbs. 22.75 inches long
4 months: 14 lbs. 12 oz. 24.5 inches long
6 months: 17 lbs. 4 oz.  26.5 inches long

Chani's stats
birth: 6 lbs 11 oz.  19.25 inches long
2 months: 11 lbs. 23 inches long
4 months: 13 lbs. 4.5 oz.  25 inches long
BIG BREAK (SHAME ON MOMMY)
11 months: 17 lbs. 28.5 inches long

my morning news

I've become my mother!  I used to think it was so lame because she only ever listened to NPR in the car.  It also played on the Bose in the kitchen while she prepared dinner.  I've started listening to NPR when I drive Emery to school.  I also like catching it in the afternoon/evening.  Even Clint is converted.  We try to come up with places to go on Saturday morning so we can hear Car Talk.  My favorite part of NPR is on Friday mornings at 8:20 they play a Story Corps Clip.  They have a podcast and a website.  You can listen to clips that people have recorded about their lives.  One person interviews another person about whatever they want.  In February, most of the clips were about husbands and wives (so sweet).  I listened to two daughters interview their dad, who had Alzheimer's.  The one last week was about some Vets.  Here's the grain of wisdom they shared.  "We are moving forward.  That's why we comb our hair backwards."  I've also loved A Prairie Home Companion since I was very small.  It makes me laugh out loud!

Under the couch

This has been something that all three of our kids love to do. Shimmy their way under the couch. Saya has been the quickest to learn how to move around. She can get across a room in no time at all.

Saya 2/17/2012 6 months old

Emery 6/25/2006 8 months old
Emery same time frame
Chani 4/30/2008 8 months old
I cannot for the life of me find the picture of Chani under the couch.  So, you only get the one of her under the coffee table.  Saya hasn't found the corner of the room with the coffee table yet.  We're talking about getting rid of it, so it will probably be the day we get rid of it that she ends up under it.

Giggling girls

Yesterday the girls and I ran to Safeway to grab some shrimp for dinner. Chani was holding her hand over Saya's car seat saying, "pskow". Saya was laughing out loud. It was adorable. We got into the store and Saya wouldn't crack a smile for the action. Back in the car, post shopping, loads of giggles.  I was telling Clint about it and he said,  "Remember when Emery did that to Chani?"  I got that one on video.

Valentines Day

Sorry about the links, I'm trying to do this quickly so I can fold some laundry.

We made these for Emery's friends.

We made these for the kids teachers at school and primary.

We ate this for dinner.

The kids got some balloons.

Clint and I are getting a gas line to the kitchen and a new range.

Saya looked like this.

Hope you all had a great day!

Big brother

Saya doesn't get a lot of Emery time during the week since he's at school. Last night while I was tucking Chani in, Emery was snuggling his baby sister.  Can't you see the love?

On the move

Saya is moving. She rolls quite well and to quote Chani (quoting me) "she can reverse (traverse) a room in 30 seconds." She loves paper and crinkly plastic bags. She also wants to be in the midst of her siblings business.  So when rolling, she heads for the most troublesome spot. She won't stay where I put her anymore.

James

This is James. He and Clint were roommates at Chadron their freshman year. We have James over for dinner on occasion. Our kids think he's a rockstar and beg for his attention. We always laugh a lot as we recall those college dorm days and James tells us funny things about his life. He's single and delivers Pepsi products for a living. Tonight he was telling us about the morning he took a taxi to McDonalds (across the street from his apartment) to get a sausage McGriddle from the drive thru.  Silly James! Thanks for coming for dinner!

Stuff

Here are two pictures off my phone. Cute girls. Saya is growing like a weed, she's more than 16 lbs now and happy as can be. The picture of the girls together is the story of my life. Chani wants to hold Saya every day and then when she does hold her she asks me to take a picture. They never turn out well.

Our oven bit the dust. Luckily the elements on top are still working, so we're not starving. This is one of those grown-up decisions I don't care for. Ugh!

I have to speak in church this weekend. Another grown-up task I could pass on.
