Where's Emery?

The other night, Chani woke me about 2:30 AM. She needed a drink, so I helped her with that. Then she asked, "Where is Emery?" I told her he was right above her in his bed sleeping. She said, "But he's not snoring." Poor kid has those Stewart snoring genes.

Ice Skating

The last Sunday before we moved from Texas, Emery told the entire primary that he was so excited because it snows in Wyoming. He also told them that maybe he would be a winter olympian when he grew up. Probably ice skating.

Today we took the kids ice skating. Chani was a natural, she LOVED it. She fell down A LOT but hopped right back up every time. She didn't cry at all, and giggled through the whole experience. Emery wasn't so willing to get out there and fall down. He doesn't like not being able to control the situation (that's why riding a bike wasn't so fun until he got good at it). He wasn't very good at just scooting his feet along the ice. He cried at one point and said he didn't like it. He was the first one ready to leave. When we were in the car driving away he said, "That was really fun." I hope he can only remember that it was fun." The best advice I heard a mom give all day was "March, march, march." That really helped the kids move along the ice. It was such a fun memory to make with our kids. I hope we can go back again soon!


I couldn't crouch the way I wanted to on the ice on skates. It's been a long time, and it took me a while to feel like I wasn't going to fall.

Today the kids said.......

While I was making dinner both kids were being quite loud. I said, "Shhhh...." I couldn't hear myself think. Chani didn't miss a beat, she said, "Why? Is Bread sleeping?"

Emery was pouring over his Lego wish book today. He looked up and said, "Mom, I love Lego's, but I love you more."

Florida

Clint went to Florida for a conference. He sent us these pictures (that he took from his room--yes ocean view) so we would know what an awful time he's having! He really is in lots of meetings, but he's also been running on the beach, out to eat at a nice Cuban restaurant and probably more beach time tonight. This is where he's staying. We'll sure be glad when he gets home on Tuesday night. I'm not a big fan of single parenting.....it's hard!

This boy.....

Emery makes me so happy. Last night we took the kids to see Tangled at the $2 Theater. It was so fun. Emery LOVED it. He laughed out loud and giggled uncontrollably. It was awesome.

This morning, I asked him if he wanted alien oatmeal (which is really healthy and has been $1 per box at my Albertsons for a while) for breakfast. This sweet boy responded, "Whatever you make me will be fine, Mom." Melt my heart. I love him!

In the past 12 hours......

It's cold here. Last night when Clint came home it was -7 degrees. Shortly after he got home, the power went out. I am severely under prepared for emergencies. I had two candles that were nearly gone. We have a nice big Maglite, but the kids like to play with it so the batteries were nearly dead. The temperature dropped 15 degrees between when the power went off (9:20 PM) and when we went to bed (10:30 PM). Clint was worried we were going to freeze to death. I piled the blankets on everyone and we went to bed. The power came back on shortly before midnight.

This morning (Tuesday is a babysitting day) my friend called to tell me that while bringing the kids to my house, her truck died. She thought maybe the diesel gelled in the tank. She asked if I could come get her, which I did. When I left the house it was -14 degrees, with a windchill making it -41 degrees. When I got to her, the truck was COLD, and the little boys were nearly frozen. I delivered them home, and she didn't go to school. It's bitter out there today, so we're staying inside!
