Stats

I took the girls to the doctor yesterday.  Chani needed a round of shots and a kindergarten appointment and Saya needed her 9 month appointment.  Both girls have a faint heart murmur when they are laying down, which the *doctor said was totally normal, and Clint said it's because the heart walls are thin so the blood sloshes instead of a distinct pump (or something like that).  Other than that, they are completely healthy.

Saya is 18.5 lbs and 29 inches long.  That means she's in the 90th percentile for height and 50th percentile for weight.

Chani is 34 lbs and 40 inches tall.  That means she is in the 15th percentile for height and weight.

*Since I can't have our Chadron doctor anymore (we really loved him), I have to say, I am impressed with our new doctor.  He spent a lot of time with us yesterday and was so complimentary of both girls.  Especially how bright Chani is.  It made me feel good as a mom.

Poor third child....

Saya has two teeth. (since April)
Saya can crawl. (since April)
Saya is pulling herself up on things. (started in May)
Saya is walking behind her little ride on. (started this week)

And I am the bad mom who hasn't posted any of these things individually.  She is big and we love her!

Looking for the perfect toy in her bag of tricks.
All tangled up in her bumper pads.
She loves balls.

Saya says......

Tonight Saya was leaning on Clint's leg, and jabbering away.  Clint swears she said "dad".  She wouldn't repeat for me or for the camera.

Old

A conversation from Friday.

Chani: Mom, did you go to PBS Kids when you were small?
Mom: No, Chani.  There was no PBS Kids when I was small.
Chani: Why not?
Mom: Because I'm old, and when I was little there weren't even computers for playing on.
Chani: Why?
Mom: Because I grew up in the dark ages.
Chani: The Dar Cages?  No sir, you grew up on a farm.

Murphy

My wallet has disappeared somewhere in my house. I have not seen it since Tuesday. Sigh!  I've cleaned everything and looked everywhere I can think of. When I give up and order new everything, that's when I'll find it. That is what happened with my library card. I replaced it last week. Clint found it today.....too bad it has been disabled and the new one is somewhere in my wallet.

Preschool

We had a great year of preschool this year, and I am so glad it is over!  I worked with a phenomenal group of parents and a super fun group of kids.  I had a lot of help from moms and could not have completed the year without Haley stepping in to teach half way through the year.  We did lots of fun projects (like fruit loop rainbows, coffee filter eggs, and a beautiful alphabet quilt).  We ate lots of fun snacks (rainbow licorace, kid-made ice cream, ho-ho's and rolls with jam).  It was awesome.

The kids learned this fun alphabet chant.  It really helped Chani learn the sounds of the letters, which has translated into sounding out words for reading and writing.

It's no wonder...

...that my camera is always dead when I want to take a picture.  My kids love to take the camera and take random pictures.  These were taken on a night when they should have been in bed.  There was no parental supervision.  This is a tiny sampling of the more than 50 photos taken.

I apologize for the snot.  Chani loves to take unflattering pictures of herself.  This day, she had a crummy cold!
Chani taking pictures of Emery in too small jammies.
I'm not sure what she's hiding from, but doesn't it look like a scene from a scary movie?
Just kicked back, see my feet?
I have no idea what this camera setting is, or how she figured it out, but I love that Emery is on the move.
Now Emery is the photographer.  Maybe we have ghosts.

Behind

I am very behind in blogging.  So much so that I didn't even know blogger had changed.  Sigh.  These are some pictures from our trip to Idaho.  It was a quick trip, and these are the high(and low)lights.

  • All five of our family members, plus Molly, in the Elantra.
  • Chani's nasty fever that caused her to barf all over Clint's iPod and my mom's guest bed. (Sorry again, Mom!)
  • Hanging out with my sisters
  • Stewart Family Dinner (with Clint's parents too)
  • Rupe's
  • Tying quilts
  •  Sunny days on the farm
  • Shooting guns for Clint and Emery
My sister had a baby three days before Saya.  Perke Two is a lot smaller than Saya.  Here are the pics (and they really might be the only pictures I took the whole trip).

Just call me Curly

Since Saya was born, I've had some trouble with my flat iron. At first I thought I just wasn't doing a thorough job on the back of my head. I've been tired. But, when I got my haircut, Nicki mentioned how much natural curl I had. Now, I have never had curl (except for all those perms) . So, imagine my surprise when, with a little curling mousse, my hair looks like this. Unreal!
