Chani is 6 months old. She is already pushing up on her hands and knees and shimmying backwards. Emery was slower to crawl, and I am not ready to have two mobile kids. Alas, I don't think I can stop her, nor do I want to hinder her development. So, attached is a picture of her on all fours, and a couple of Emery and Chani together on Valentines Day. His eye has healed very well, I'm pleased with how it looks!

Inspired
Thanks Julie for inspiring me to look for the moments as a mom! I have to share one I had yesterday. I was in the kitchen making Emery a cheese sandwich for lunch, which is his daily request. Chani wasn't too happy that I had left her on the floor in the living room. She was fussing quite loudly, and I asked Emery if he would please go tell her a story and keep her happy until I could get his sandwich finished. He usually tells me no or goes to do something else, so I wasn't too surprised when he headed down the hallway towards his room. About 1 minute later he came back down the hall and into the living room with a book. It was one of those talking books with the buttons. He sat next to her on the floor and pushed buttons and sang until his lunch was finished. She was thrilled to play with him, and he was having fun being with his sister. I am grateful for the moments!

Reasons I love my family
I was sitting here this morning thinking of all the reasons I love my family and I just have to share!
CHANI
1. She slept from 7 PM until 5 AM this morning, there is hope!
2. When I went to check on Chani in her crib this morning, she was laying on her tummy with her eyes open, and when I bent down to catch her eyesight, she just grinned, without moving, watching me and grinning bigger and bigger.
3. Chani can sit up like a champ and loves to play with her brothers trucks (yes, Blake, play!)
4. When Chani grins, her whole face lights up!
5. Despite her slow growing hair, she's girly in every way.
EMERY
1. Emery spent half of the morning pulling a car back on the table and watching it race forward and launch off the end of the table.
2. The other half of the morning has been spent inside a large box at the front desk, just laying inside it playing cars.
3. Emery had discovered knock knock jokes and loves to tell them on the phone and then giggle infectiously.
4. Despite looking like his dad in every way, Emery has my love of bananas.....with peanut butter.
5. He wanders around missing people, "Elaine (the custodian in our building) where are you?" "Luke (he babysits on Tuesday) where are you?" "Daddy (in his office) where are you?"
CLINT
1. Working so hard on his thesis writing
2. Making numerous trips to Scottsbluff and then counting aphids hours on end to get the research for the thesis.
3. Forgoing an appointment to replace a filling that came out last week because he needs to be writing that thesis.
4. Being swamped in his office all day and still coming home to play with the kids before bed.
5. Helping his wife do the dishes after dinner!
I am so lucky!

Stitches
This is the picture I sent to my sisters asking if we should go in or not.
Here's an after picture
and one more after pic
Emery was running from me (his new favorite game) and he was not watching where he was going and ran smack into the corner edge of a dinner table. It hit him right over his eye, right in his eyebrow. It hardly bled at all and Clint wasn't sure he needed stitches, but it seemed really deep to me. Clint guessed it would take 2 stitches to close it up. Clint stayed home with Chani and Emery and I went to the ER. It took about 45 minutes for the doctor to come, and then about 10 minutes for the 2 stitches. They strapped Emery to the papoose board, and then a nurse held his head. He screamed the whole time, but I don't blame him at all. Once they unstrapped him he was fine, saying thank you and bye like a champ. I will post pictures on our blog tomorrow. It's a rite of passage I could have skipped as a mom. But, I was tough and the nurses even commented on how nice it was to have a calm mom.

Video of the Kids
It seems that everyone either asks if Emery and Chani like each other or comment on how full my hands are. So, here's my answer for the first question. The second comment makes me angry.
