Friday was not my best showing as a mom. We were celebrating our anniversary and I had a hair appointment in the morning. After getting my hair cut, I was getting ready for lunch, while on the phone, when I heard a tremendous crash and instant wailing from Chani’s room. I threw the phone down and ran to her room. She was pinned under the fallen dresser. I removed the dresser and when I picked her up, I noticed the blood. Lots of blood. Pouring from the back of her head. On the way down, she had either hit the bed post or a toy that was on the floor. She was shaken and crying, but mostly mad that she had blood on her hands and that I wouldn’t give her a bandaid right away. She had cracked her head pretty good, and there was a small gash. I called my friend who graciously came to my aid. After talking to my PA sister (thanks, Charlynn) and conferring with my friend, I decided it would be better to take Chani in than to chance it. Of course, on Friday afternoon, there are no doctors open in this part of the country. We had to go to the ER and it was sort of like that scene in the movie. You know, when the boy says, “Come on, I’ll show you where my dad keeps his gun.” He turns around and the whole audience gasps. I felt like that. People would smile at her all cute bow and happy go lucky. Then she’d turn away from them and they’d see the bloody mess on the back of her head. Sigh. We saw the doctor, he was very nice. Told us we didn’t need stitches or staples or anything else. So, they bandaged her up like an Indian Princess and off we went. Clint and I still went out for our anniversary, and my great friend kept the kids overnight. Chani did great. The next afternoon I showered her off (the doctor said I could). The Indian Princess dressing had to go back on, though, when she bonked the same spot playing on the floor with her brother. She really wanted the headdress to be purple, but I couldn't find any of that tape stuff in purple. Maybe next time....then again, I hope there's not a next time!

Wow, I'm so sorry to hear that. I'm glad that she is doing better though.
Glad she's okay! Kids are amazing how they bounce back, huh?
I hadn't seen that movie preview in a long time. Ew. ;)
I'm so glad she was okay. I always find it so frustrating/amazing how kids manage to hit the same spot over and over after they've had an injury.
Hope you were able to enjoy your anniversary.
