We're now a family of 5. Saya Brynn was born yesterday (August 20, 2011) at 11:09 AM. She's 7 lbs. 11 oz. and 21 inches long. She's a whole pound bigger than Emery or Chani was.
The birth story will follow (sorry, Brooke, but I want this documented, this is your fair warning--turn away now).
The doctor was a bit worried that this baby would be bigger than my others, and he stripped my membranes on Friday morning. Clint and I checked into the hospital at 7:15 AM on Saturday. I was contracting pretty hard by 8:15 when the doctor arrived, and by 9:30 I was at a 4+ and he broke my water. I told him it wouldn't be long before I needed to push, and I don't think he really believed me. By 10:15 I was at an 8. I really felt like I had to push, but they made me hold off for a few more contractions. 5 pushes later she was out. It was a bit hairy for a minute because Bread's shoulders got stuck. I loved the excitement in the room, though, when the baby finally came out and the doctor said, "It's a girl!"
She was pretty blue, so they took her straight to the warmer to get her pinked up. They got her all cleaned up and we got to enjoy her all we wanted. The kids came up and Emery said, "She's so cute and little." Emery held her first and then Chani had a turn.
Saya is a champion nurser and wants to eat often. She's a very chill baby, and doesn't cry loudly, just wakes up and roots around until she's fed. We're so happy to be a family of five.

Jill, I am SO excited for you!!! I'm curious -- were you suspecting a girl or was this a shock? I sort of assumed she would be a boy for whatever reason. I'm so happy for you that she's here and healthy and with no major complications!
And how do you pronounce her name?

Congrats! I am sure Chani will love her little sister. I will hope and pray for a baby as little as yours. I am certain my little lady will end up over 9lbs.
