I've posted a couple of times (here and here) about Zaycon Foods. The last campaign they did here was chicken tenders. I was interested, but I have to admit, I'm a bit skeptical without a good referral or review. I scoured the internet for a review of their chicken tenders. There was nothing. I shouldn't have been surprised, I think it's a new product. With some trepidation, I ordered one unit (20 lbs). They came in yesterday, and now I'm putting a review out there.
The review from Zaycon says:
• Tasty breaded chicken tenders for an easy meal the whole family will love – especially the kids
• Made from the best cuts of boneless, skinless white meat
• Not formed or shaped
• Two 10lb cases per order
• Individually frozen
[NOTE: These are not precooked so must be oven cooked or deep fried.]When I opened the box, I could smell the seasonings, and they smelled good. I put some on a baking sheet and popped them in the oven for 25 minutes at 425 degrees. While they were cooking, I ran to get our babysitter. When I got back they were perfectly cooked. I had to snitch one before we left the kids, and they were delicious. They are real meat, not a processed chopped up mystery "nugget". They are well seasoned, and crispy on the outside. Inside they are tender and moist. The kids loved them with ranch and honey mustard. The babysitter said she loved them too. Even Clint had one or two before we left. My only regret is that I didn't order two units. I hope they bring them back soon, I'll order again!
They were only $1.99 a pound. A similar product from Tyson (sold at Sam's Club) is $2.75 a pound.
They are really good alone, but I'm looking forward to using them to create my favorite Texas Roadhouse Chicken Critter Salad with honey mustard. Yum!
