This panicky feeling.....

is a good thing, right? We put together an offer on a house yesterday and faxed it off to our realtor last night. She delivered it to the buyers realtor this morning and just called to say she was waiting to hear and would let us know as soon as she hears, which could be today. I'm overwhelmed at the cost of buying a house, the cost of moving, and the things we'll need to purchase when we get there (a dryer, fridge, and bed for Emery--that's just the top three things). Anyways, as exciting as all this is, I'm very nervous about it. Someone talk me down?

Oh, and here's a pic of the house.

Buying your first home is scary but well worth it!!
I rember buying our first home almost 13 years ago it was a cute little fixer uper in a really nice neighborhood. I rember We bought the house for 45,000. That isent even a dent in the house we bought here.I always tell my DH we should move to Texas then I could have my big old house.

Annyhoo you will enjoy haveing your own things just think yes you will have to buy a fridge but you will be the first ones to use it..
Plus buying a home is better than wasteing your Money on rent.

Jill once you are there in your new home you will be so happy. You are just taking so many big steps right now it probly feels like you are out of controll just listen to the spirt and it will guide you.
Hugs Jenn

It is a stressful time with a lot going on! Who wouldn't feel overwhelmed a little or even a lot?
I remember how nervous I was after putting an offer in on a house. It is an exciting but scary time. Good luck!

I have no advice to offer, but I do know how you felt! When we bought this home it really was a crazy feeling -- we knew the home was a great purchase, but that huge list of start-up purchases that accompanied it was totally overwhelming.
If I have one thing to say, it's that nearly 3 years later, I have not had a moment of remorse over those purchases. The thought of going back to apartment living gives me shivers up my spine. This is a great investment! So are the washer/dryer and bed. And all the other things you'll inevitably need! :)
Good Luck!

Ditto what's been said. Home owning has it's stresses (and costs plenty of money, believe you me, I know!), but it's such a pay-off in the end. It really is! Just pray about big decisions, make good choices, and when you get there, you'll figure it all out. So, no worries! Just be profoundly grateful you can own a home because you're going to Texas! Anywhere else and man, it might not have happened, eh? Housing prices are out of control...
Good luck!! I hope you get the house. It's adorable!

Hey Jill,
I just left my email address for you at Cheryl's blog. I hope you enjoy my Wild blog. :)

BTW, I lived in Texas during my teen years and I LOVED it. Texas has it's own culture, and it's so fun.

My Texas tip: Never say that any other state is better than Texas, don't even hint it. You might want to get a bumper sticker (which is seen everywhere in TX) that says : I wasn't born in Texas, but I got here as fast as I could! Your neighbors will love you for that.

PS- I watched a movie recently where one of the characters said, "A man isn't a man until he owns his own little piece of Texas" :)

Jill, there's nothing like having your own house, it is worth every penny! FIRST, you are gaining equity-- instead of paying monthly for some apartment somewhere, you and Clint will be paying something off that you can someday own or sell if it gets too small! SECOND, you can do ANYTHING you want to the house when you own it! If you get wild and want to paint a zebra print in Emery's room, you can!
Be excited to make it YOURS!!! A house will reflect you and the happy family who lives in it--

A toddler bed isn't too expensive and will last to 50 lbs...Audrey absolutely loves hers and we could fit the crib back in there if need be, something we couldn't do with a twin. On the other hand, a twin isn't too bad either and you could always just have it on its own box spring so its not too high off the floor. Beds are a little expensive, but worth it over time AND if you consider how many hours we actually spend sleeping.

I don't know if you have connections down there, but as for appliances, here in CB we always go to this place called "16th street appliance". Basically, they buy the stuff the store doesn't want and sell it for cheap. For example, we got our dryer not so long ago from them and the only thing wrong with it was a dent in the side which the store marked "unsellable"-- so we got it for about half the price and its an economy dryer! SO, if there's a place like that...I know Sears marks there stuff down when its dented or a floor model...And a fridge can last forever, just get something that you guys really like and feel is worth it.

ANYWAY, Jill, its going to be an amazing new adventure in life and you guys will grow to LOVE it. If we could, I'd move with you! And you know we will alwys be here for you--

Thanks girls! You're the best. We submitted our offer, got a counter offer, countered on that offer and now we're waiting to hear.
